This isn't burnt tasting or you don't have to load it down with sugar to take any bitterness away. I love a cup of coffee that you can taste the bean and still be smooth. I love it. I love it. I got a collection of coffee's with my new machine and this one is the best.
I'm going to finish the box because these things are simply too expensive to waste but.I imagine I'm going to be choking it down by the time I get to the last one. It's just one short step away from bitter. 12 to go. I really thought I'd like this coffee because I had yet to discover a product in the Newmans Own line that I didn't enjoy, but yikes, this is one strong cup of coffee. I guess the extra bold is just too bold for me.
However, what they do not tell you is that you only get 18 k kups for your $10. The coffee itself is good, not great.
This has a firm dark flavor and strong clean "just coffee" aroma without the bitter aftertaste that many "bold" or "dark" coffees have. I don't know what it is about Newman and his recipes, but I tend to like them. Perhaps we just have similar tastes.
Paul Newman also donates all of his royalties. It's organic and it's part of the fair trade of coffees. Lots of reasons to try it. This is the best coffee k-cup I've tried and my husband agrees. It's strong, yet smooth.
